Job Summary

Facilitates movement of all specimen samples and consumables between BARC laboratory and the relevant client. Collects specimens from clients, doctor’s rooms and trial sites. Delivers hard copy reports to clients.

Drivers License Code 08

Key Performance Areas

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collects and delivers laboratory specimens, BARC reports, documents and consumables in the shortest possible time, to the correct address and to the correct contact person to ensure effective customer service.

• Ensures all shipments are packaged and couriered in accordance with IATA regulations (International Air Transport Association)

• Adherence to South African traffic laws.

• Notifies laboratory and managerial staff of any problems and / or deviations encountered. Convey messages as per instruction to ensure an open communication channel.

• Delivers consumables and trial kits to clinical trial sites timeously as directed by the Kits Supervisor

• Signs in and out for all rounds relating to collection and deliveries and accurately fills in daily log sheets to ensure record keeping and audit trails.

• Adheres to working hours and lunch times to ensure correct time keeping. These times are determined by the Procurement and Logistics Supervisor

• Communicates client address changes to the Logistic Supervisor and Project Manager to avoid collecting and delivering samples at the wrong site / location.

• Adheres to BARC uniform protocols while on duty to ensure that couriers can be easily identified by the clinical trial staff. Also to ensure the professional and neat appearance of BARC couriers whilst on duty.

• Collects post from the post box.

• Assists with kit packing or general store duties for operational requirements when required or requested by their direct supervisor.

• Implements sound housekeeping procedures and works effectively with others as a member of a team to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with relevant legislation and all safety protocols.

• Adheres to professional and ethical conduct requirements in line with organisational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards.

• Responsible for having the BARC delivery vehicles cleaned regularly. Reports any damage or vehicle malfunctions to the Procurement and Logistics Supervisor.

• Performs responsibilities and any reasonable duties or requests apart from normal job function within the post holder’s sphere of capability and responsibility
